Each month, the HDC team pick one item from our travel wardrobe and show you five alternative uses for it.

Flip flops. Thongs. Jandals. No matter where you live or what you call them, these trusty items of footwear are part of everyone’s wardrobe. Multi-functional, never far from our suitcase, sometimes (and inadvisedly) worn with socks, we just knew these summer sandals had more to give.

Whaddya know? We were right.

Buzzz.

“Where is that…”

2. Cup Coaster

Coffee table stains are so last year. If you’re forever chasing people around the home or office shouting “oi, get that cup off my table”, now there’s no excuse.

3. Attention-grabber

With so many demands on our time these days, it can be hard to get people’s attention. Well, worry no more. The solution is on the bottom of your foot.

4. Mouse Mat

There’s nothing more frustrating than a mouse that won’t, err, move. The sole of a flip flop makes a brilliant alternative to going to PC World.

5. Fan

A handy alternative to aircon, this is probably the most timely suggestion given the sweltering temperatures currently hitting the UK. And don’t worry, no one’s giving you funny looks, they’re just jealous they didn’t think of it first.
