After that alarm goes off at 7:00am on Monday morning, you then step out of the door into the pouring rain before squeezing on to a packed train to get to work. You know your holiday is well and truly over!

Don’t let the post-holiday blues get you down though. Here are a few suggestions to keep that holiday smile on your face that little bit longer.

Throw a party

After a week or two away from the majority of your friends and family, you’ll want to have a good old catch up. So what could be better than getting them all together for a huge party? Get the drinks in with a few nibbles and show off to everyone how good you look after your time in the sun.

Recreate your holiday at home

If you’re missing your favourite things about your holiday, why not recreate them at home? Have a go at cooking your favourite holiday dish, try to learn the language or watch a movie set in that part of the world. Or if you’re really missing chilling out on the beach every day, you could even add a sandpit and paddling pool to your back garden – and with a jug of sangria by your side, you’ll feel like you’re still there – almost!

Enjoy the outdoors

After spending much of your holiday enjoying the sunshine, sitting in a dull office for eight or nine hours a day might be a tad depressing. So even if the weather isn’t as nice as you’ve been used to, it’s important to get outside as much as possible. Take a break for lunch. Sit in a beer garden after work. Or enjoy a day out at the seaside. It’s also a great way to prolong that tan!

Decorate your desk

If you’re one of those people who loves to take hundreds of pictures on your travels, don’t just leave them on the computer, or shove them in a drawer, never to be seen again. Get them developed and bring a few into work to brighten up your desk a bit. For added effect; you could even drape a towel over the back of your chair or stick a luggage label on your computer.

Write a bucket list

If you saw some amazing sights on your travels, why not start thinking about some of the other things you’d like to see around the world. Write a bucket list and start planning when you’ll next be able to tick off some of the places that are on it – a great way to look forward rather than back.

Book another holiday!

If none of the above works though, there’s probably only one way that’s guaranteed to beat those post-holiday blues – book another one! We have a range of fantastic holiday deals for autumn so you could be donning that swimsuit sooner than you think.

What are your tips on cheering up after a holiday?
