The world’s highest babysitters, a flight just for ginger people – whatever next?

Here’s our round-up of some of the top news stories and some of our latest holiday deals from this week.

Super-cabin-fragelistic…

After last week’s news of an airline introducing a child-free class, this week Etihad Airways announced their plans for trained in-flight nannies. The so-called ‘flying nannies’ will be on hand to give struggling families a bit of extra help, and little ones will be given a travel kit to keep them entertained. Looks like Mary Poppins has traded in her brolly for a Boeing, if you ask us.

Red-Hair Flight

Last week Flybe airlines commissioned a custom-made flight solely for transporting carrot-headed Scots to the annual Redhead Day festival in Holland’s town of Breda. The plane, which went from Inverness to Amsterdam, stayed true to the fiery theme by including a red-haired pilot and serving Ginger Grouse beer on board. Talk about painting the town red.

No Souvenirs, Thanks

Interestingly, almost 70% of 2,000 people in a recent survey have said they’d rather not receive a souvenir from someone else’s holiday. Some of the offending items included cheap pottery, miniature statues and T-shirts, while others reported cringing over bargain bric-a-brac such as jewellery, key rings and fridge magnets. So if in doubt, probably best to leave without picking up a pressie for your mates.

#Hashbag

It seems that Twitter users are taking the site’s trending tool to new levels. One man took to the micro-blogging site by buying a promoted tweet to slam British Airways’s customer service after they’d lost his father’s luggage. It seemed his £1,000 ad caught the brand’s attention though, as he was quickly notified of the whereabouts of his baggage – which is said to have been returned to him promptly.

The Big Apple Is World’s Top Destination

Where on earth is the world’s favourite city? Recent research, which surveyed more than 18,000 people from around the world, revealed New York as the top spot closely followed by London, Paris and Abu Dhabi.
