Holiday Discount Centre would like to wish all our customers and partners a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

In true festive fashion, we’ve been wearing some of best and brightest Christmas themed jumpers this month to raise funds for the Evening Chronicle Sunshine Fund, a North East charity that helps disabled and seriously ill children in the North East.

Founded in 1928 by George V, the Sunshine Fund continues to help children with disabilities by providing them with the specialised equipment they need, collaborating with individuals, registered organisations, special and mainstream schools and hospitals. A truly great organisation that we’ve enjoyed supporting this year.

*Fun Festive Facts*

The festive period is a time for mince pies, mulled wine and spending time with family and friends. So we shouldn’t be surprised to find out that, based on the things we’re searching online for in December and January, Christmas officially makes us happier. We could have probably told you that without researching – nor is it surprising to learn that online searches for ‘diet’ peak straight after New Year’s!

Christmas also coincides with the winter solstice, when days are at the shortest and darkest. This is probably why so many of us start thinking of warmer climates, planning ahead for summer holidays or a bit of rejuvenating winter sun to top up on vitamin D. The festive period is a time when Google searches for holidays are on the up, even if it’s just a way of taking our minds off work.

If you’re thinking about some winter sun, it’s not too late. There are still plenty of great deals to popular destinations like the Canary Islands, Mexico and Florida, all of which deliver warm weather at prices that are affordable, great variety and family-friendly resorts. Temperatures in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria can hit highs of around 21-23oC between January and March…just in case you needed that one last reason to book!

Merry Christmas Everyone! See you in 2016.
