Hands up who’s started their Christmas shopping? If you’re anything like us, chances are that you’ve yet to begin. However, the Black Friday sales that will take place at the end of this week provide the perfect excuse to tackle that Christmas list, and if there’s a frequent flyer in your life that you need to shop for, we’ve got plenty of inspiration for you in this gift guide. The only problem is you’ll probably want everything on this list for yourself too. If that’s the case, why not just print it out and leave it somewhere Santa can see:
A Personalised Globe
Top of our list this year is a personalised globe from Whole World of Love on Etsy. The company will hand-paint a quote of your choice onto a traditional travel globe, or you can choose from some of the fascinating globes on offer in their shop. There’s everything from hand painted Dalek and dinosaur globes, to those with travel quotes from favourite children’s books, such as Alice in Wonderland’s “if I had my own world everything would be nonsense” and Peter Pan’s “second star on the right and straight on ‘til morning.” There’s even one emblazoned with the lyrics to Elton John’s Your Song, should there be a special someone you want to treat. The only problem is making up your mind which globe you they want the most.
Lonely Planet: Best in Travel 2017
At the end of every year, Lonely Planet release their Best in Travel guide for the upcoming year. The book is like a bible for frequent flyers as it predicts what will be the big travel destinations and trends for the year ahead. As Lonely Planet’s panel of experts have to whittle the book down to just 10 countries, 10 regions and 10 cities, the places that make the final cut are heavily debated in the Lonely Planet office and there’s likely to be a few surprises in the mix for readers also. To give just a glimpse, 2017 is set to be all about microbreweries and Canada. So, don’t be surprised if your next postcard comes from Vancouver – home of the country’s craft beer scene.
Colour In! Passport Cover
Travel can be a competitive business, and if you know someone who likes to brag about the number of countries they’ve visited, a colour in passport cover could be the perfect gift. No longer will they actually have to open their passport to show off all their stamps – by using the included fabric pen they can simply colour in the countries, making it instantly clear to all!
Smart Padlock
Last year’s must have travel accessory was the selfie stick, but this year travel gadgets have got a little more sophisticated. 2017’s must have accessory is touted to be the smart padlock. They’re a cheaper equivalent to the impressive, but oh so expensive, smart suitcases that have recently hit the market. The Noke allows you to unlock your suitcase using your mobile phone, but this smart padlock can even work when your phone is out of battery. The padlock can be used to manage multiple locks and the owner can monitor and keep tabs on when and where their suitcase was opened through an application on their phone. Noke is currently available through Firebox for £59.99.
Cocktail Travel Pack
Do you ever crave an expertly crafted cocktail when you’re out and about, but find there’s nowhere you can turn? The Cocktail Travel Pack from World of Zing contains four well mixed libations and is the perfect stocking filler for your frequent flyer. Deliberately designed in an airport security friendly pouch, these cocktails, all at 50ml, can be packed into hand luggage and are ideal for bringing on those short city breaks where they’ve decided not to splash out on the airline fees for checked baggage. The four cocktails are designed for the connoisseur, with the classics Negroni, Manhattan, Spiced Rum Punch and Margarita.
