It’s been a scorcher in the UK this week, and things are about to get even hotter as England has begun their defence of The Ashes. Meanwhile, we’ll soon be able to fly to space, and we’ve got the most common destination for holiday affairs! Ooh err.
Here’s our travel round-up of what’s been happening around the world this week…
Catch Me If You Can
After another week of British sporting success (three cheers for Andy Murray), it’s now our cricketers’ turn to show us what they can do as they began their battle against Australia for The Ashes on Wednesday. The series kicked off with the first Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham this week, and promises to be another thriller as England look to retain the famous urn.
Space Invaders
There’s exciting news for anyone who’s ever wanted to fly to the outer limits of the earth – and why wouldn’t you? In just two years, you’ll be able to fly twice as high as Concorde on a high-tech balloon for extraordinary views of Earth. The capsule can hold up to six people (four passengers and two pilots) and even includes a meal if you wish. Oh, you’ll need a spare £95,000 to do so though.
What Happens in Vegas
If your partner has arranged themselves a trip to Vegas in the near future, you’d be forgiven for having your suspicions. Appropriately known as Sin City, Las Vegas has been voted the number one destination for extramarital holidays, so it may not be just the slot machines that are getting lucky…
Dedicated Follower of Fashion (Or Not!)
Holidays seem to bring out some of the biggest fashion disasters. Things that people wouldn’t normally dream of wearing in the UK seem to be acceptable as soon as you step off the plane. In a recent poll of holiday fashion fails, it’s not the dreaded socks with sandals or those cringe worthy Hawaiian shirts that come out on top though, it is in fact the cut out swimsuit (formerly made famous by Paris Hilton) – just think of the tan lines.
Travelling Tots
With more and more accessible and affordable travel than ever before, a recent UK study conducted by Club Med has found that the average child has visited as many as 11 different destinations by the time they’ve reached 16 years of age. In that time, they’ve clocked up around 13,500 miles too. The top three destinations kids have travelled to include France, Spain and the USA.
