From a popular panda in Scotland to a new silent seating area in Singapore, there have been plenty of waves across the world of travel this week.

Here’s our round-up of some of the most noteworthy news stories from the past seven days – and some of our latest holiday deals to get your weekend off to a flying start.

Ch-aisle-d Free Class

Singapore Airlines’ budget brand Scoot now allows passengers to travel without children around them for a £10 fee. The new cabins, known as ScootinSilence, offer a quiet haven from any utterances of the under 12 age group in the first seven rows of economy class. Whether it’ll take off is still up in the air… (sorry).

Panda-ring to the Masses

Move over, Prince George, there’s a new baby in town. Rumour has it that Edinburgh Zoo is apparently on standby for the birth of Britain’s first giant baby panda. News surfaced earlier this month that Tian Tian (which means Sweetie in her native Chinese), who arrived at the zoo in 2011, may be pregnant. With tickets to the enclosure already selling out, there’s sure to be panda-monium when the little one arrives…

He’ll Sweep You Off Your Feet

According to a recent poll, A-lister Henry Cavill is the Hollywood heartthrob that British women would most like to travel with on a trip abroad. The survey, which questioned 1,000 females aged 18 to 35, revealed that almost half of UK women would opt to go on holiday with the Superman star – beating David Beckham, Gerald Butler and Prince Harry. At least they’ll save on the flight!
