Did you know that people who use Holiday Discount Centre are statistically speaking 45.6% better looking than those who don’t?

Ok, there might not be real statistics to back that up – but don’t worry, we’ve got plenty more facts that are definitely true in this week’s travel news, along with some totally unbelievable holiday deals.

Shall we begin?

Happy Friday!

United Waits of America

Good news if you’re visiting Orlando International Airport this year, where they’ve introduced a new immigration system to limit your time spent queuing. Apparently, the Automated Passport Control cuts each family’s wait time by up to 75%. And they say magic only happens in Disney World…

Britons Love Germany

What’s one of the trendiest places for Brits to go on holiday? According to the German Tourist Board, it’s Bavaria followed by Berlin. Last year, 349,000 more British tourists went there than ever before. It’s thought that the recent rise in visits is down to the increasing international awareness of events in the Bavaria region including Munich’s Oktoberfest and the Christmas market in Nuremberg.

When in Roam…

Does the thought of excessive roaming fees stress you out while you’re abroad? If so, it appears you’re not alone. A recent study has revealed that almost 30% of European travellers turn their mobiles off completely while on holiday. While 47% don’t browse the internet to avoid racking up roaming charges, only 20% felt comfortable sending as many text messages as they would at home. The findings further support last month’s decision to introduce international data roaming caps.

Off the Rail Train Journeys

If you’re travelling from London to Glasgow on 27th February and forget your book, you’re in luck, as the 2.30pm rail service will include its own entertainment. The new addition (dubbed the ‘Comedy Carriage’) is being organised to promote the Glasgow International Comedy Festival and will feature acts from eight stand ups including Patrick Monahan, Bruce Devlin and Damian Clark. No joke!

British Tourists Dish It Out

Who would have guessed that as a nation, we’re quite the foodies? A recent poll reveals that when it comes to enjoying a holiday, almost three quarters of UK travellers consider food to be a crucial factor of their overall experience. 26% of those surveyed said they are up for trying new dishes during a trip abroad, while only 4% admit to sticking to familiar foods.
