London Attractions: Our Top Picks

We love jetting off across the world as much as the next person but for anyone who doesn’t fancy spending hours on an aeroplane, there are plenty of top attractions to visit a lot closer to home. London attracts millions of visitors every year but knowing where to go and what to see can be confusing if you don’t know the city well.

Luckily, we’ve picked out some of our favourite attractions in the capital to help you out:

HM Tower of London

The HM Tower of London is one of the most historic and fascinating places in the capital. The Yeoman Warders (Beefeaters) here will be able to take you on a guided tour and reveal many a tale of the gruesome happenings that took place in the tower many centuries ago. You’ll also be able to feast your eyes on the world’s most famous Crown Jewels and spot a raven or two.

The View from The Shard

From something old to something very new, The Shard is one of the tallest buildings in Europe, offering amazing views of the entire city and surrounding area for up to 40 miles. The viewing area is almost twice the height of any other platform in London so it really doesn’t get much better than this, and if you’re lucky, you might even see Dynamo levitating above it (but probably not).

EDF Energy London Eye

If you prefer to be rotating whilst looking out over London, then you might prefer to opt for a ride on the EDF Energy London Eye. Standing on the South Bank, the Eye is made up of 32 large capsules numbered from 1-33 (13 is left out) that represent each borough in London, travelling at a tortoise-like speed of 26cm per second.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour

Whether you’re taking the kids or just want to relive your childhood, a day at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour is a must for Harry Potter fans. Located just outside of the city and adjacent to the film studios where all eight Harry Potter films were created, visitors will be able to ride a broomstick, enjoy a drink of Butterbeer and visit many original sets from the movies.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not!

For an unbelievable and often just plain weird day out in London, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! offers something for all ages. The Mirror Maze here is almost impossible to find your way out of, there’s a room where everything is upside down, while a recent addition is a giant thumb sculpture made out of 44 years’ worth of nail clippings – nice!

London ThamesJet Experience

A ThamesJet experience is ideal if you want something a bit more action-packed on your trip to London – and if you don’t mind getting a bit wet! Although you’ll pass many famous landmarks along the river, you’ll probably be going too fast to even notice them. Just remember to hold on tight!
